Woman of the Week: Stephanie Vaught

Stephanie Vaught was born and raised in Detroit, MI. She attended Detroit Public Schools and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University in 2000 and a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2007. Stephanie has spent the bulk of her professional career in law and community advocacy.

However, in 2015, after spending years learning financial literacy and money management to improve her own financial knowledge, Stephanie decided to make a career shift into personal finance. She therefore became a certified financial coach educating and helping thousands across the country understand effective money management and reach their personal financial goals.

In 2018, Stephanie saw a gap in the marketplace and realized a need to focus her expertise on her peers over 40 and others approaching midlife. Therefore, Stephanie Vaught founded Social Money Finance, LLC, a personal finance company that specializes in helping Gen X women make empowered financial decisions through the principles of effective money management. She has made it her mission to encourage Gen X women to lean into their life experiences, own their own power, and build a life they love.

Recently, Mrs. Vaught was interviewed and listed as a featured financial coach in Oprah Daily and the 2022 edition of Oprah’s Favorite Things. Stephanie is also a member of the renowned global community, Forbes BLK.
