Empathic Biz Tip: Get Beyond Visibility! Be a Champion for your Work!

Dear Visionary Empath! Many people will tell Empaths not to take on the problems of the world...it is just “too much.”

The reality is Empaths are here to heal themselves and support the healing of the world! We are told in order to be successful in business, it is about being visible and getting known. That is part of it... but not the heart of it.

Here’s what Empaths bring to the world through their businesses:

✨ Insight

✨ Compassion

✨ Articulation of complex thoughts and feelings

✨ Quest for knowledge and understanding

✨ Highly sensitive nature

A person who fights or argues for a cause or on behalf of someone else...

"a champion of women's rights"--according to Google Dictionary.

Questions to Ponder:

  • What does your business take a stand for?

  • Who are your collaborators?

  • What is the mission of your business?

  • What impact does your business have on your clients?

Not only are these questions good for content about your business, they serve as a reminder to yourself of why you do what you do. Consider this when speaking about your business:

  • If you are not sharing your work or asking others to share your work, how is the world going to shift?

  • If you are not building a community how will others be seen and heard?

  • If you don’t champion your work, who will?

Visibility can be scary and intimidating. However, it is not so important that you focus on social media. Instead, focus on the depth of relationships, collaborations and connections you have.

Here are 5 places to become a champion for your work:

Call for Presenters

This is a quick google search in your area of expertise for organizations who are looking for presenters. You can also search a call for papers if you are more academic. They are not always paid but you can sell from the floor or add people to your community. This is a great time to add content to your YouTube channel as they will want to see samples of your work.

Podcast Guest

This is actually easier than you think. I have legit pitched myself to podcasts that I like and got booked! They need content and you need a platform. Win/Win! Research different podcasts that you feel aligns with your work, and make sure you listen to a few episodes and leave a like and comment too.

Television

No matter where you are in your journey, local television stations are in need of some good news... especially now. They are looking for wellness, inspiration and events, even virtual ones.

You can put together a media kit, or reach out to and follow Deja Cromartie, who is a PR maven.

Newsletter

Creating a newsletter community is a great place to introduce yourself to people and share your story and work. It can help you make deeper connections and bring new people into your work.

You may also think about joining professional organizations or affinity groups. My client, Rose Kaz, has dynamic membership for female identified business owners. This is a paid group but biz owners can have a virtual store, community events and more!

Conclusion: Growing a business is one of the most beautiful paradoxes you will experience! However, you don’t have to go it alone or in the traditional ways.

Lean into your intuition here and let me know which of these resonates with you most. Your work matters to the planet and it is worthy of expression and support, but the biggest champion will always be you!
